Meet the Crew

My crew for the race are Joe Hunter, who will be crew chief and Joe Moran whose main focus will be to keep me going and keep me motivated.

We will be adding a third crew member soon. My wife Jen will act as an extra support for some of the race.

Meet the Rider

I live in County Louth with my wife Jen and our two wonderful children, Rosiemae and Max.

I am doing the race to raise funds for the Esophageal Cancer Fund (OCF) in Ireland. I lost my Dad to the disease back in 2013 and I guess for me, cycling has become a way of dealing with grief and keeping my head right.

I work full time as a bricklayer and stonemason and it is a job that I love.

Why I go the distance

I just love to ride my bicycle and also I would consider myself to be a bit adventurous so I think it's only natural to get involved in events like The Joe Barr 500.

Alternatively I may have taken one too many shots to the head during my boxing days when I was younger to consider this a good idea!

I would like to wish all the other racers and crews the best of luck and hopefully everyone has a successful race.

Thanks also to the organisers for putting on the race during these uncertain times.

And last but not least I want to thank everyone who has crewed for me in the past because without the kindness of these people it just wouldn't be possible to make it to the start line of any race.
